Practice Manager - MAK Anesthesia

Role Summary

The Practice Manager plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient functioning of anesthesia services across assigned hospitals and/or healthcare systems. In close partnership with clinical leadership, operations, and support staff, this role drives operational excellence by focusing on quality, safety, patient experience, provider engagement, and interdepartmental collaboration. The Practice Manager will maintain a strong, visible presence and foster a collegial working environment among anesthesia professionals and Operating Room (OR) teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the central coordination point ("air traffic control") for the Anesthesia Department to ensure seamless collaboration among anesthesiologists, anesthetists, and the OR team.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with hospital leaders, clinical staff, and key stakeholders.
  • Participate in and contribute to daily OR and departmental huddles.
  • Support schedule development and maintenance using QGenda or similar systems.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and hospital partners to define performance objectives, operational plans, and dashboards.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews with the Medical Director and Chief Anesthetist, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Support the evaluation and enhancement of clinical pathways, focusing on reducing variation and non-value-added processes.
  • Assist in strategic planning, service line expansion, and integration of new initiatives.
  • Play a key role in compliance, risk management, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Represent the anesthesia department and organization, operationally, in internal and external meetings.
  • Manage locum tenens staffing and associated costs, ensuring alignment with contractual labor guarantees.
  • Partner with field operations to monitor and manage temporary labor utilization and costs.
  • Oversee provider roster management, including forecasting staffing needs and maintaining bench strength.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of provider timesheets.
  • Monitor W2 clinician shift obligations and contractual compliance on a monthly basis.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, or a related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare operations, preferably anesthesia
  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership and relationship management
  • Experience in financial reporting, vendor management, and process improvement preferred
